Jackson Walling
Research Fellow
Jackson Walling is a Graduate Research Fellow at NAADSN, He graduated from Laurentian University in 2020, where he was awarded the Gord Dickie Political Science award, earning his Honors Bachelor of Arts specializing in Political Science. During his time at Laurentian, Jackson was a member of the Laurentian Model Parliament Association, and represented Laurentian University at the first annual Ontario Post-Secondary Model Parliament. He completed his Masters of Social Science in International Relations at the University of Glasgow in April of 2023. His Master’s dissertation focused on the public opinion surrounding Canadian Arctic security, and the foreign policy orientations Canadian’s emulated when it pertains to Canadian Arctic Security. In addition to how people shape their foreign policy beliefs all together. Currently, Jackson is pursuing his PHD in Canadian Studies at Trent University, focusing on Canadian Arctic security and how Arctic infrastructure within the Canadian Arctic can be multi-purpose, conjoining national security and human security perspectives. Jackson’s other research interests include, Canadian foreign policy and defence, public opinion and survey research, and Great Power competition within the Circumpolar north. During the summer, Jackson works for Parks Canada, as a Student Lock Operator on the Trent Severn Waterway.
