MarCanadian Perspectives on Arctic Alignments with the Kingdom of Denmark: A Hybrid Workshop
NAADSN is pleased to host Torsten Kjølby Nielsen, Chief Counselor for Arctic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, on a study visit to Canada to gain a better understanding of Canadian Arctic policies though discussions with Canadian experts and meetings with relevant Canadian Arctic stakeholders. Organized by the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network (NAADSN) and the School for the Study of Canada at Trent University, “Canadian Perspectives on Arctic Alignments with the Kingdom of Denmark” examines Canadian/Danish cooperation on:
- Maintaining a Peaceful, Secure, and Safe Arctic
- Enhancing Bilateral and Regional Cooperation
- Sustainable Development and Climate Change
This hybrid workshop is one component of this academic visit, where Mr. Nielsen will share his last six years of experience of being a key part of the Arctic policy of the Kingdom of Denmark, bringing deep insights into Greenland and the Faroe Islands and their role in the Arctic. Mr. Nielsen has expertise in the overall foreign policy aspects of Arctic policies, great power rivalry, security policy, the future of the Arctic Council, cooperation between Arctic States/relations to non-Arctic states, economic, climate and environmental issues and the living conditions of indigenous peoples.
