Gabrielle LaFortune
Gabrielle LaFortune is a second-year PhD student in the University of Ottawa’s Political Science program, focusing on comparative politics, international relations, and Northeast Asia. Her background is in global affairs and linguistics, and her current research uses critical discourse analysis and argumentation theory to understand how governments and civil society organizations argue for policy maintenance and/or change. Outside academia, she has conducted research on news and (counter-)terrorist communications during an internship at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, UK.
