Anna Soer

NAADSN Research Fellow

My name is Anna Soer and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Ottawa in political science. My research focusses on renewable energy development in Nunavut and Greenland. Specifically, I look at corporate social responsibility and community consultation processes within the wider Environment Social Governance framework.

I have obtained my MSc at Radboud University (The Netherlands) in Human Geography, with a specialty in Conflict, Territories, and Identities. My Bachelor of Arts was obtained at the Université Bordeaux-Montaigne (France) in English language and history.

Additionally, I am affiliated with the Observatoire de la politique et sécurité de l’Arctique, and am co-Editor in Chief of Potentia – Journal of International Affairs. I have also served as Board member for the Environmental Studies Association of Canada since 2022.

My larger research interests include gender, Indigenous governance and self-determination, as well as colonial dynamics of territorial expropriation using both contemporary and historical perspectives.
