Emerging Leaders Node
Mission Statement
The Emerging Leaders Node (ELN) strives to inspire, foster and empower the next generation of Arctic Security and Defence Leaders. Our programming consists of three core activities: Skills Development Series, Emerging Leaders Ideas Series and Networking Nights. The ELN endeavors to support and further NAADSN’s quest of providing timely, relevant and quality research on key policy challenges affecting the Arctic.
Series of Events
Skills and Development Series (SDS): This series is designed to help refine the skills of senior undergraduate and graduate students. These workshops aim to develop skills that will help them succeed not only in NAADSN but also in policy and academic spheres. Workshops will consist of presentations from esteemed NAADSN academics followed by the opportunity for students to ask questions.
Emerging Ideas Series: Like NAADSN’s Ideas Series, the Emerging Ideas Series is a great opportunity for students to present on their research at whatever stage they may be at. The Emerging Ideas Series will bring together students at various stages of the research process to discuss and workshop their ideas.
Networking Nights: the ELN Networking Nights aim to be low-stress gatherings that create a strong relationship between students within NAADSN as well as with key academics and mentors in the field. The events are designed to be for students to connect and build networks, identify future co-authors, share peer-advice, and share grad school horror stories. Networking Nights are held the last Friday of every month at 8pm EST.
