Alexander Dalziel

Macdonald-Laurier Senior Fellow Alex Dalziel spent over 20 years of experience in Canada’s national security community, where he held positions at the Privy Council Office, Canada School of Public Service, Department of National Defence and Canada Border Services Agency. During that time, he worked across multiple operational and strategic domains.
Alex holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in history from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as certificates in Russia and Baltic Area Studies from the University of Eastern Finland and in European Studies from the University of Bonn.
He publishes and speaks on a variety of foreign policy and security topics, concentrating on the Arctic and on Canada’s geopolitical role. His language skills include knowledge of Finnish, French and Russian.
