Avery Parle

Northern Advisor
Avery M. R. Parle was born in Toronto and raised in rural Ontario, where he developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors during extended canoe expeditions with his family through remote wilderness. Time spent at the family camp near Sudbury further deepened his connection to nature and instilled a lifelong respect for the land.

In 2006, driven by a sense of adventure and a one-way ticket, Mr. Parle relocated to the Northwest Territories. He spent his early years in the North working in construction in Yellowknife and at remote mining sites across the region. From 2009 to 2014, he returned south to pursue post-secondary education, earning a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology from the University of Guelph, where he also played CIS football for the Guelph Gryphons.

Following graduation, Mr. Parle returned to the North and became actively involved in the business community, founding and acquiring several enterprises across the Northwest Territories. His work has taken him extensively throughout the Arctic, contributing to regional economic development and fostering strong relationships across communities.

Mr. Parle has also been a committed advocate for workers’ rights through his involvement with the Union of Northern Workers. He served a term as President of the Northern Territories Federation of Labour, where he championed labour rights and strengthened union representation across the region.

His dedication to service continued with his recruitment into the 1 Canadian Ranger Patrol Group in the fall of 2020. Elected as Patrol Sergeant in the spring of 2022, he played a key leadership role during the Yellowknife wildfire evacuation of 2023 and supported training operations at the Canadian Armed Forces Arctic Training Centre in Resolute Bay in 2024.

As a Patrol Sergeant based in the same location as the 1CRPG headquarters, Mr. Parle serves as a vital link between community, government, business, and other patrols across the North. His leadership and commitment to the North continue to shape his contributions to the region’s resilience and growth.
