Christopher Murphy

Research Fellow
Christopher ‘Kit’ Murphy is a Master’s student at the University of Toronto, Canada (2024 – ), studying Political Science with a focus on International Relations, Energy Security and Security Studies. He completed his undergraduate degree in Economics and Politics BA Jt Hons from the University of Nottingham, UK (2021 – 2024), with modules in Advanced Political Economy, Advanced Development Economics and Great Power Politics. His current research is focused on energy security and its impacts on great power competition, particularly Russia and the Central Asian region. He is also currently a research assistant for CANSTOREnergy, a Canadian carbon conversion project, conducting policy analysis. Outside his research, he attends events across Europe, the UK and Canada to learn and advocate for sustainability, energy transition and greater youth participation. He was a recent participant of the Arctic Frontiers Student Forum 2025 in Tromsø, Norway.
