Cooper Roy
Research Fellow
Cooper Roy is a student at the University of Manitoba pursuing an honours degree in political studies. Now in his third year, he has organized various events in Winnipeg, both as a student and as a representative on the Canadian International Council (CIC). In January 2025, he co-organized the J.W. Dafoe Political Studies Students’ Conference and the Paul Buteux Memorial Lecture, which featured speakers including Ambassador to the United Nations Bob Rae and Dr. Lloyd Axworthy. He also co-organized an international focused career networking event that connected nearly 40 professionals with students from across Manitoba.
Cooper’s research interests include International Relations, defence policy, and national security. As a research assistant, he co-authored a paper on the United Nations. Additionally, he has participated in conferences, such as the 75th Student Conference on U.S. Affairs at West Point, where he helped develop policy recommendations on U.S. relations with Latin America in the context of a shifting international order. He also attended the 2025 Canada-Iceland Maritime Security Conference hosted in Reykjavik, where he served as a rapporteur.
As an undergraduate, he continues to research and study issues related to International Relations, defence, and security.
