Dr. Karen Everett

Dr. Karen Everett is a Senior Research Associate with the Louis-Edmond-Hamelin Chair affiliated with the University of the Arctic at Université Laval (Québec City, Canada) where she studies socio-economic inequalities in the circumpolar region. Prior to this, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Laval and a Research Scholar with the Arctic Futures Initiative at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Laxenburg, Austria). She completed her PhD at the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies at Trent University (Peterborough, Canada) where she studied border management in the Canadian North. Karen is also interested in Arctic geopolitics, governance, security, and economy, including their intersections and what this means for policy development. She is also a member of the UArctic Thematic Network on Geopolitics and Security.
