Erdem Lamazhapov
Research Fellow
Erdem Lamazhapov is a PhD research fellow at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute and the University of Oslo. His research investigates the origins of China’s Arctic policy and explores how China’s great power status and ambitions impact its engagement with the Arctic region. His main research interests are the relationship between China and Russia, with a particular focus on the Arctic and related areas such as the Polar Silk Road, shipping on the Northern Sea Route, critical minerals development in the Arctic and climate change policy in Russia. He holds an MPhil in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo and a BA in International Relations from Seoul National University.
