Ethan Wong

Research Fellow

Ethan Wong is a Research Fellow at the North American and Arctic Defence and Security Network. He is currently pursuing an MPhil in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Oslo and is undertaking his thesis at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute. Ethan is also a Research Associate at The Arctic Institute and was a US Fulbright Grantee to Norway (2024-25).

Ethan’s areas of interest include non-Arctic state involvement, Arctic governance, and geopolitics. His current research focuses on the role and status of the non-Arctic states in the Arctic Council, particularly in promoting peace and cooperation in the region. Ethan holds a BA in International Studies from American University, School of International Service, and a minor in Data Science. His undergraduate research focused on analyzing the national Arctic strategies of Arctic and non-Arctic states using quantitative text analysis methods.

Previously, Ethan worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Climate and Security, an institute of the Council on Strategic Risks. He also interned at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Systems Engineering and Project Management Intern for the Surface Biology and Geology (SBG) Designated Observable.
