Joshua Baker
Research Fellow
My name is Joshua Baker, and I am a graduate student at The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). At SAIS, I am pursuing a Master of Arts in International Relations, concentrating in Security, Strategy, and Statecraft where I am also a Research Assistant for Dr. Christopher Sands, Director of the Center for Canadian Studies. Currently, my work with Dr. Sands focuses on Canada’s future role in the Indo-Pacific in light of the new AUKUS Security Partnership. My academic interests include Canadian defence policy, defence procurement, Arctic security, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Before pursuing graduate school, I completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours – First Class, at the University of Calgary. During my BA, I completed an undergraduate thesis under the supervision of Dr. David J. Bercuson, and I completed the Simon Fraser University – NATO Field School in 2018.
